Red Dust

My lovely roommate had three rolls of film to shoot by Monday and Georgia just got hit with it's first cold front of the season so we decided to go adventuring. And when I say adventuring, I really mean it. This wasn't just the usual cruise around downtown and stop where the light seems good, this was some serious stuff. We packed up our gear and hit I-17 south with the windows down and a fall playlist blaring through the car's speakers. We drove until the smell of the city was gone and the scenery changed from industry to pastures and forests. She got her homework done and I found some super rad locations. I completely fell in love with this abandoned white house and a field with telephone poles that seem to go on forever. I can't wait to go back with a model for a shoot of my own!

This amazing weather we've been having is getting me so excited for fall and winter and everything that comes with the seasons. Especially the clothes. So, with that said here's some looks I've been loving and a few pieces I've specifically had my eye on for awhile now.

Shop here.
Fringe and studs, could it get any better? This jacket is made by Novella Royale, a company based out of LA that's all about not creating waste from new materials but using leather from vintage jackets. Each piece they create is handmade and one of a kind. This jacket really can't get any better.

Shop here.
A fur jacket just isn't practical living in Georgia, it gets chilly but not terribly cold. A fur vest though, that's perfect.
One of these is definitely at the top of my wish list this season.

Shop here.
A velvet blazer, you can't get much cooler than that. And especially in this color.
One Teaspoon hit it out of the park with this piece.

Shop here.
All the maxi dresses I have right now have been for summer so they're strapless or have really thin straps. I absolutely love the idea on a long sleeve maxi dress. Especially this one, I love the bell sleeves and paired with a nude slip underneath the crochet is still sexy even though you're totally covered up. This piece is all sold out online but Planet Blue does an amazing job of getting more once they sell through. You can even get a notification sent to your email as soon as it's back in stock!

Shop here.
I'm so excited to bring out the knits and the tights. I love this knit tunic and the way it was styled here. I think this outfit is perfect for the transition to cooler weather.

Shop here.
I'm in need of a new leather jacket and I've been on the hunt for quite awhile now. I think this one is going to be the one. The silhouette is slim and flattering. I absolutely love the lining and all the small details. I'm a total sucker for epaulets.

Shop here.
And last but certainly not least is wide brim hats, I can never get enough.
And this one has studs. Such a dreamy combo.

Back to Where the Peaches Grow

I'm officially back in Savannah. Even though it's for an undecided amount of time I'm happy to be back. I'm excited to see how these next few months play out and even more excited about what's to come with the start of this upcoming year.

The night before heading back I got together with a good friend to take some pictures. It was a pretty spur of the moment idea and being in Southwest Florida we naturally decided to go to beach. The sunset wasn't much and we got there a little late but we had so much fun anyways. Here's a couple shots.

It was super good to see you J Dang, as always.

And now, like I promised, a little insight into making dyed cut offs..
All you really need is a couple hours, some patience, and about 15 bucks.

The first step in the process is to find a pair of high waisted jeans. Goodwills and Salvation Armies are full of them, and they're generally only five dollars, you just have to have the patience to dig a little. There's hundreds of brands out there but a few that seem to work the best are Levi and Jordache. I highly highly recommend trying them on, sizing between brands tends to be different and sizing has changed over the years, so don't get upset if the jeans that fit you best are marked two sizes bigger than what you usually wear.

Once you get home with your jeans use a pair of fabric scissors to cut them to shorts. I usually give them about a two and a half inch inseam, enough room to fray the bottom without your butt cheeks hanging out. I also usually cut them at a slight angle, making the inseam about a quarter of an inch longer than the outside edge of the shorts.

Next thing you'll need is an x-acto knife. I use the ones with the snap-off blades that come all the way out of the knife, I'm probably not describing them very well so here's where you can find them. Once you've got that, completely remove the blade from the knife and just scratch scratch scratch your little heart out. This is where the patience factor comes in again, the more time you spend thinning the denim to make the tears the happier you'll be later.

Once you've got your shorts all torn up it's time to bleach them. It's hard for the dye to really take to the denim and for the color to be exactly what's shown on it's packaging without the shorts being bleached first. So just let them sit in a little bleach to take them
from this,

to this.

The shorts I was wearing in the last post were just made with bleach, no dye involved, but you can take them up a notch with a little dye. The possibilities are endless with these and that what makes them so much fun.

Once your shorts turn white make sure you rinse them thoroughly before you try to dye them. Rit dye is my personal favorite. There's ton of colors and you can even mix colors to get exactly the shade you want. You can get Rit dye at JoAnn's Fabric or most any other craft store. Then just follow the dying instructions stated on the packaging and you're all set.

To get more of an ombre affect rather than just a solid dip dye you can lower the shorts into the dye a little at a time. About 15 minutes per "level". While the shorts are in each "level" I like to splash a little dye higher than the water line to make the transition more fluid.

Then just wash them and they're ready to wear. Also, wash these babies by themselves for the first couple times so they don't bleed onto anything else!

This song alway puts me in such a good mood, it's the best while making these. Enjoy!

Hello Lovelies! I'm sorry I haven't posted in a couple of days. I know making excuses is a terrible thing, but I'm about to do it. I'm blaming my absence entirely on this boy. In the best possible way of course..

Summer classes came to an end last week and as soon as I was done with my last final I literally ran to my car and drove eight hours south. Straight to our hometown and straight to his arms. I couldn't be happier spending this break with him before he packs up and heads to Cali at the end of the month. I've only got a week here in Naples and we've been making the absolute most of it.

By the way, I redid the ombre in my hair last night, I was missing it. I did it myself this time and I actually like it better than when I got it done at the salon. You can kind of see it in the picture below put I'll post better ones tomorrow!

We're planning on going thrifting tomorrow and I'm super excited. I'm going to show you how to make the shorts I'm wearing in these pictures, I've gotten a lot of questions about them on facebook and it's really easy to do!

For now though, I'm off to continue making the most of my time here. Cuddles, mint chocolate chip ice cream, and a movie sound just perfect.

Goodnight!

Sugar and Spikes

As soon as I saw the title of this lookbook I knew it was going to be good, especially since Planet Blue is never one to disappoint. And once I saw that most of the collection was by Low Luv x Erin Wasson I knew I was going to be in trouble.

Low Luv x Erin Wasson has some pieces that have held top spots on my wish list for quite awhile now.
You can shop her collection in select stores and online.
See where to get your hands on some of these beauties, here.

And here's some of what she did for Planet Blue.
Rugged, edgy, and perfect for layering.
I think my favorite is the Thunderbird Cuff.
Different than your average cuff but still simple enough to throw on with anything.
The rest of the Sugar and Spice collection was designed by super badass Joomi Lim.
If you haven't heard of her I definitely recommend going and viewing her stuff.
She makes me want to put studs and spikes on everything!

And finally here's a couple she did for Planet Blue as well.

You can shop Sugar and Spikes here, and you can check out the lookbook right here.
Now go, get your shop on!

Sheer Brilliance

I am absolutely in love with the line that Style Stalker released for the season.
The chiffon is perfect for the transition to fall. It makes me want to sit outside the tearoom with good friends, a pot of tea, and the cool early autumn breeze.

Here are some of my faves! You can see these and the rest of the line here.

Also, their lookbook is entirely gorgeous, as usual. Titled Young Hollywood it takes classic hollywood elegance and mixes it with 90's grunge. Alex Spencer modeled and Kimberly Gordon shot the series. The aesthetic of the photos and the styling together display the essence of effortless. I could look through it over and over and never get sick of it. Check it out here!

Mandatory Introduction Post

Welcome to Entangled Constellations.
This is me.

I'm currently a fashion photography student in Savannah, GA. Not for long though, I've been given the opportunity to follow my dreams and move out to California, and of course I'm going to seize it. I plan to be all settled in San Francisco within a year.
This blog will be a sort of combination photo diary, fashion blog, and just a series of random posts about what inspires me.

With that being said, I must introduce you to two people that inspire me daily and who's faces you'll see on here quite frequently..

This is Alex. He's my boyfriend and my best friend and I wouldn't want it any other way. He knows me better than anyone else on this earth. We have the best adventures when we're together and he always keeps me smiling. He's currently off following his dreams out in Cali too and I couldn't be happier for him.

And lastly, this is my beautiful Momma. She's made so many sacrifices to raise me as a single parent and is making even more sacrifices these days to help me follow my dreams. She does everything in her power to make sure I'm happy and she deserves nothing but happiness for the rest of forever. I don't think she'll ever know how much I appreciate everything she does for me.
